A-Level Results 2025: LAET Celebrates Record-Breaking Year

LAE Tottenham Celebrates Record-Breaking Year and First Conservatoire Success with New Music Programme.

London Academy of Excellence Tottenham (LAET) is proud to celebrate another exceptional year of A-Level success. Among the 2025 cohort, 22% achieved an A*, 55% secured A*–A grades, 85% attained A*–B, and 96% earned A*–C.

This year also marks a milestone for LAET’s creative arts provision, with the first cohort of A-Level Music students completing their studies. Launched in September 2023, the course has already delivered remarkable outcomes. Most notably, Emmanuel Ampong has been awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, one of the UK’s leading conservatoires.

Emmanuel’s achievement represents a historic moment for LAET and signals a bright future for the school’s Music Department, which has grown rapidly under the leadership of Lead Teacher Emma Rivlin and now boasts state-of-the-art facilities. His success reflects two years of dedication, discipline and artistic growth.

“Joining in 2023 meant that I had joined with the launch of the LAET music department. There was a buzz of excitement for something new in the school with opportunities for many hidden talents to be revealed,” said Emmanuel. “Events like our first LAET Live allowed me to lead and direct music in a way I hadn’t done before, and support from mentors and teachers — including my composition teacher Ms Kennedy, who herself studied at Royal Academy of Music — helped guide me through the audition and application process. I’m excited to be taking this next step at RAM, committing to what’s been in my heart since I was a child.”

Across the wider cohort, LAET students have once again demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, with an average grade of A. Nearly a quarter of all exams were awarded an A*, and the majority of graduates have progressed to Russell Group universities or secured places on competitive degree apprenticeship programmes.

Headteacher Jan Balon commented: “The fact that the average grade for students at LAET is an A is testament to the dedication of our students and staff. I am particularly proud that we continue to maintain the highest academic standards whilst broadening our curriculum to better reflect the full range of talent in Tottenham.”

This year also saw a record 24 offers to Oxford and Cambridge in subjects ranging from Computer Science and Medicine to History and Engineering.

Ofori Adu-Kumni, who achieved AAA* and will study Human, Social & Political Sciences at the University of Cambridge, said: “I feel excited and optimistic about leaving home for university as it’ll be my first opportunity being able to be completely independent and in control of my daily schedule. LAET has supported me so much over the last 2 years in helping my academic progress, with things such as Politics Scholars helping me develop a deeper interest in Politics outside of the curriculum.”

Maya Redley, who achieved A*A*A and is heading to the University of Oxford to study Psychology and Linguistics, shared: “Despite some inevitable nerves, I feel quite excited about heading off to university. There is so much I will be able to learn, not only about my chosen subject but also myself and the people around me from all walks of life; I think university is a very formative time for all young people. The independence that comes with it is quite daunting, but also something I am definitely looking forward to, as I think such autonomy provides many new and exciting opportunities. Moreover, the love of learning that I have fostered while at LAET means I am looking forward to immersing myself fully in my subject with like-minded peers and academics.”

In addition, 13 students have secured competitive degree apprenticeships with leading employers including Goldman Sachs, Rolls Royce and Rokos Capital Management.

Berenice Dienda, who will join Goldman Sachs within operations, said: “Taking part in several workshops with LAET—in partnership with various companies and through in-house sessions—greatly helped during the application process and boosted my confidence at every stage, from the initial application to the final interview.”

Ruth Mahamoodally, also joining Goldman Sachs, added: “Mr Onyido, Miss Ssesszai and Mr Sehgal really took their time and effort to support me whenever I needed it. The process of applying to a degree apprenticeship became less nerve-racking due to their encouragement.”
