FAQs
Application Process

1. When is the application deadline?
Applications opened in September. The deadline is Friday, 30 January at midnight.

2. What does the application process look like?
You can begin your application by clicking the Apply Now tab on our website, which will take you to our application portal, Applicaa. The form takes no more than 10 minutes to complete and will ask for your personal details and predicted grades.

  • No personal statement is required.
  • There are no entrance exams.

Our entry requirement is five GCSEs at grades 9–7. If your predicted grades meet this, you should definitely apply. All eligible applicants will be invited to an alignment consultation. If the consultation is successful, you will receive a conditional offer.

3. Who should be my referee, and what if they don’t complete it in time?
Your referee is usually your teacher, Head of Year, or Deputy Head of Year. Please confirm this with them directly.

It is your responsibility to follow up with your referee and ensure they complete your reference before the application deadline.

4. I’m worried I won’t meet the high entry criteria. Should I still apply?
Yes. If your predicted grades meet the entry criteria, you should apply. Predicted grades are set by your teacher or Head of Year, so if you believe you have higher potential, please discuss this with them.

5. What grades do I need to study specific subjects?
Subject-specific entry requirements are listed on our website. Please check our curriculum page or our digital prospectus below for details.

6. Do you enrol international students?
Unfortunately, we are not able to enrol international students. We are only able to accept applications from students who meet our UK residency requirements.

7. How can I know that my application is complete?
You will receive a notification through Applicaa confirming that your application has been completed. You can also check your live application status at any time by logging into your Applicaa account.

8. How do you decide who receives conditional offers?
To be considered for a conditional offer, you must:

  • Apply by the deadline.
  • Ensure your referee submits their reference on time.
  • Be predicted to meet our entry requirements.
  • Attend and successfully complete an alignment consultation.

Please note: receiving a conditional offer does not guarantee a place.

9. Am I guaranteed a place if I meet the entry requirements?
Not automatically. Meeting the entry criteria means you will receive a conditional offer, but due to the high number of applications we receive, a conditional offer does not guarantee a place.

If we are oversubscribed, we will use our published oversubscription criteria to allocate places.

10. I have special educational needs. Who should I share this information with?
Please email details of your SEN/SEND needs to admissions@laetottenham.ac.uk. The admissions team will forward this to our designated SEN team to make sure you receive the right support.

Alignment Consultation

How will I know if I’m invited to an alignment consultation?
Once your application and teacher reference are complete, you will receive an email inviting you to one of our consultation dates.

  • Consultations are in-person events held at LAET.
  • Attendance at one of these consultations is required to be eligible for an offer.
  • Our SEN team will be present at each consultation. If you need adjustments, please let us know in advance by emailing admissions@laetottenham.ac.uk.

2. When will I know what enrolment group I am in
We typically send weekly or biweekly emails to offer-holders with information about enrolment day, including details of the group you will be assigned to following our taster days in July.

The grouping system is a time-based, staggered process applied on enrolment day in line with our oversubscription criteria, which are outlined in our admissions policy. More detailed information will be shared with offer-holders after the taster days.

3. Can I enrol online?
No, online enrolment is not available. However, you may designate someone to enrol on your behalf.

They must bring:

  • Your government-issued ID
  • Your GCSE results

We cannot enrol anyone without an adult physically present on the student’s behalf. This person can be a friend, neighbour, or trusted family contact (not necessarily a relative).

General

1. Do all students take four A Levels?
Yes. All students begin with four A Levels as part of our academically rigorous curriculum.

2. Are there any open events scheduled?
Our open evenings took place in October and November. We do not have further open evenings this year, but we do have an Open Morning on 16 January. Details can be found in the 'Attend an Open Event' tab above.

If you missed all open events, don’t worry. Successful applicants will be invited to the school for an alignment consultation, which provides a great opportunity to experience our environment.
