Safeguarding

Safeguarding at LAET

Keeping our students safe is our top priority and LAET is proud of the pastoral provision it offers. LAET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All students have daily contact with a form tutor who delivers their personal development curriculum and leads on 1:1 meetings with students. Our staff are notably approachable and vigilant in reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns. Each year group has a Head of Year and non-teaching Deputy Head of Year to support students pastorally along with the Designated Safeguarding Leads. The safeguarding team meets weekly to discuss the needs of our students.

Our safeguarding practice is upheld through regular and ongoing staff training and a student personal development programme which responds to the needs of our students.  Mental health and wellbeing is commonly discussed and contributes to decision-making at all levels of the school.

Our safeguarding team is here to support pupils and parents / carers.  Ms Brown is our Designated Safeguarding Lead, and she is supported by three Deputy DSLs, each with a different area of expertise. The school has invested in our mental health provision and our Mental Health Lead coordinates a team of counsellors to support students and staff in school.  In addition, we have strong links with outside agencies and other professionals who can assist children and their parents/carers.

Full details of safeguarding processes at LAET are outlined in our safeguarding policy

How to report a safeguarding concern

The Safeguarding leads can be contacted via email at the following address which is monitored during term time and the school holidays:  safeguarding@laetottenham.ac.uk

Alternatively, if you would prefer to speak to a member of the safeguarding team please call the school's main office phone number on: 0208 3526020

Students concerned about their wellbeing or that of another student can also make a disclosure in person to a member of the safeguarding team. A poster signposting the DSLs and how to reach them is displayed around the school and shared with all visitors.
