Behind The Scenes Look at the Royal Opera House

LAET students visit the Royal Opera House for a behind-the-scenes experience!

During the May half term, Sam, Shakayla, Hannah, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Adomas, Ben and Viola visited the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The venue is home to The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet and is recognised internationally for its productions, training and historic stage.

Our LAET musicians in the historic Paul Hamlyn Hall at the Royal Opera House, proudly accompanied by Ms Emma Rivlin (Lead Teacher of Music) and Ms Louisa Kennedy (Teacher of Music).

Students attended a Stage and Orchestra rehearsal, giving them a rare chance to see how performers, conductors and technical teams shape a production before it reaches the public. Watching the rehearsal process up close helped them understand how musical interpretation, staging and collaboration come together in large-scale performance.

They also met soprano Louisa Alder, who has performed with major UK companies and works across both classical and contemporary repertoire. She spoke with students about training, rehearsal preparation and life as a professional singer, offering a clear picture of the pathways available within the performing arts.
