LAET Awarded Music Mark of Recognition

LAET Music Department Earns National Recognition for Excellence
LAET is proud to announce that its Music Department has been awarded the prestigious Music Mark of Recognition by the national organisation Music Mark. This recognition is given to schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to providing high-quality music education and ensuring access to musical opportunities for all students.
Since the introduction of A Level Music at LAET in 2023, the subject has quickly become a cornerstone of the school’s creative offering. The course has opened doors for students to explore composition, performance and musical theory, free/subsidised music lessons, while also giving them the chance to take part in exciting real-world experiences.
Students have performed at a wide range of events, from the school’s own LAET Live showcase to major public stages such as the Wireless Festival and Southwark Cathedral, where they performed alongside students from Highgate School. These opportunities have helped students grow in confidence and develop their talents in front of live audiences.
The department has recently celebrated notable successes in national competitions and university placements. Last year, LAET 2025 alumni Joseph and Jeff secured second place in the national Song Academy Young Songwriter 2024 competition. Additionally, Emmanuel Ampong achieved an A* in Music and is set to start his Music course at the Royal Academy of Music this September.
The Music Mark award is a reflection of the dedication and passion of LAET’s music staff. Special congratulations go to Ms Emma Rivlin, Lead Teacher of Music, and Ms Louisa Kennedy, Teacher of Music, whose hard work and vision have helped shape the department’s success. Thanks are also due to the wider team of staff who have and will continue to support students both in and out of the classroom, encouraging them to pursue their creative ambitions.
As the Music Department continues to grow, LAET remains committed to providing students with the tools, experiences and inspiration they need to thrive.
