LAET 2025 Prize Giving Ceremony
LAET’s 2025 cohort celebrated record-breaking results and inspiring student achievements.
Last week, LAET’s 2025 cohort gathered to celebrate a landmark year of academic achievement. With 26% of students earning A grades and a record number securing places at Russell Group universities - including Oxford and Cambridge - their results set a new benchmark in the school’s history. Many others also gained entry to competitive degree apprenticeships.
The ceremony was hosted by outgoing Student President Ruth and Vice President Maya (2024–2025), and featured a keynote address from Naomi Kellman, founder of Target Oxbridge and Hemisphere Education. Drawing on her experience as an Oxford graduate and advocate for educational access, Naomi spoke powerfully about ambition, resilience, and representation.
Ms Li and Ms Oksuz, Head and Deputy Head of Year, reflected on the cohort’s journey and presented the LAET Values Awards to students who exemplified the school’s ethos:
- Aspiration: Suraya George
- Endeavour: Fardowsa Jeyte
- Community: Yohance Anderson
- Reflection: Gloria Sebastiao
Chair of Governors Rebecca Hilsenrath KC (Hon) then addressed the audience and presented the Governors’ Awards to 29 students with exceptional A-level results - the highest number of recipients in LAET’s history.
Subject awards were presented by Mr Maunder, Ms Kaddour, Ms Kwong, and Mr Gault, recognising excellence across disciplines from the sciences to the humanities.
The afternoon also featured standout musical performances by Saya Nozawa Crosdale, Christine Agwu-Kalu, and Samira Sharif, whose contributions have shaped LAET’s music community during their time here.
Dr Helena Kaznowska awarded the Fotheringham Prize for Scholarship to Gabriel Fletcher, honouring his academic dedication and curiosity.
Closing the ceremony, Laila Thompson - last year’s Fogarty Cup winner and now a second-year Physics student at St Andrew’s University - returned to present this year’s award to Ezel Kupeli.
